My life in the last few years has taken a road I had not expected to travel. I had worked as a Registered Nurse for 11 years followed by a Certified Nurse Midwife for 3 prior to giving birth to my daughter prematurely. The journey to bring her into our family took some time (2 freaking years!), and when we finally achieved a successful pregnancy she decided to be 9 weeks early. Enter the road I now travel.
I decided to leave my midwifery job soon after her birth as she did have some delays that would need constant attention to help keep her healthy and thriving. This turned out to be the best decision for her, our family, and as it turns out- my career!
Leaving health care has been a bittersweet decision. I talk about that here and there on this blog. I also wrote Rebirth, which still is a great place to get some "insider" info on maternity care. But I haven't written on that blog for years, so keep it in mind that some things may no longer be "evidenced based".
I own Bourgeois Baby, LLC and I LOVE IT! Owning my company has been a blessing and never once has it felt like a "job". I wish I had more time in the day to actually "work", but I also stay home with my daughter and there is very little that I can actually accomplish when she is awake (Moms, you know what I mean!). My business has been growing rapidly these days, and as a result this blog has taken a backseat. You can find my products listed at these stores, but also get everything through my own online shop.
Crafting in general is a love of mine, and I write about things I've done. Pinterest is a personal addiction (I'm not alone, eh-hmmm) and I like to try out things I see on the site. I blog about the "experiments", both good and bad!
Also, I do HONEST, UNPAID product reviews. I was surprised as a new Mom-Owned business that much of the networking and product reviews on fellow websites and blogs were paid. Something feels wrong about it to me when I learned that many of the reviews I've read were probably not as honest as I thought. A company or business owner pays to ensure that their product gets a positive review, and I don't begrudge any mom trying to make money, I decided this was just not for me or for Bourgeois Baby.

Oh! And I also occasionally swear and post naked pictures of myself. It's not what you think. I just have come to accept me for me and working on total body acceptance. I hope that I can inspire other girls and women to feel the same way!

P.S. Yes, I have a shaved head in the pic above, which was taken in June 2013. Since then, I've regrown it shoulder length, bleached it, and might have any color ranging from purple, to blue, silver, or a natural henna. Being bald was a liberating experience.
